Storyline:
‘Bandon Mein Tha Dum’ is a four-part documentary series which follows the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test cricket series of 2020-21 which resulted in India stunningly defeating the world No. 1 test side at their hallowed home turf of Gabba, where they hadn’t lost a test match in 32 years. Each episode follows one of the four matches as India gradually recovers from their crushing defeat in the first test, to defeat the Aussies 2-1 by the end. As the series progressed, the team suffered blow after blow of bad luck, leaving most of the top 11 players incapacitated or unavailable. While the regulars Ashwin, Rahane and Pujara play exceptionally and guide the team well, the newer players equally carry the team to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Pant and Gill’s well-timed batting, along with Siraj, Saini, Sundar and Thakur’s tight bowling, the young boys manage to push through adversity, racial remarks and taunts to uphold the legacy and hopes of an entire nation. At a time when people were still coming to terms with the devastation of Covid-19, the team played exceptionally high-quality cricket, while simultaneously redefining the concept of resilience, hard work, perseverance, determination and commitment, setting the highest standards of sportsmanship and breathing new life into the dying format of test cricket.
